What a website really costs in India, and why quotes differ so much
Web development quotes in India vary more widely than in almost any other market, and the gap is rarely about profit margin. It is about what the quote includes. A number that looks half the price usually excludes the content, the third party licences, the testing, the handover and the first three months of fixes, and those costs do not disappear. They arrive later, usually at the worst moment. This page explains what sits inside a real quote, what GST and milestone payments look like, and which decisions move the figure most.
Nobody comparing three quotes in India is comparing three versions of the same thing. They are usually comparing one scoped proposal against two numbers written in an afternoon, and the numbers win until the project starts.
The Indian market has an unusually wide price band for the same nominal deliverable, and buyers are rarely given the information to tell the difference. A quote for a five page website can arrive at a fraction of another quote for the same five pages, and both suppliers are being honest about what they intend to do. They simply intend to do different amounts of work. Without a breakdown, the buyer has no way to see that, so the lowest number wins by default and the difference surfaces three months later as a rebuild.
When this work makes sense
Questions worth asking any supplier
Whether the quote names what is excluded. A quote that lists only inclusions is not a scope, and every unnamed item becomes a conversation about extra cost later.
Whether content is in the price. Most low quotes assume you supply finished copy and images for every page, and most businesses do not have them, so the project stalls or the pages ship empty.
Whether third party costs are separated. Hosting, domain, email, payment gateway fees, SMS and WhatsApp messaging credits, premium plugins and stock licences are ongoing and are frequently left out of a build quote entirely.
Whether the handover includes access. If the supplier holds the domain, the hosting login and the analytics account, the price of leaving is not zero, and that is part of the real cost of the decision.
Whether there is a defined support window after launch. A build with no stated post launch period means every fix is a negotiation from day one.
Deliverables
A written scope that lists what is not included as clearly as what is
A page by page breakdown, so a decision to cut two pages has a visible effect on the figure
Third party and recurring costs separated from the build cost, with each one named
GST shown as a separate line, charged at the applicable rate on the invoice
A milestone schedule tied to deliverables rather than to dates
Named access handover: domain registrar, hosting, analytics, search console and any third party accounts in your name
A stated support window after launch, with what it covers and what it does not
Process
Indian projects are quoted in milestones rather than as a single figure, because the most common failure here is a project that stops halfway with the money already spent. A milestone is tied to something you can see and check, not to a date in a plan. Discovery and scope is one. A signed design direction is another. A working build on a staging URL you can open is another. Launch and handover is the last. If the relationship ends at any point, you own everything produced up to that milestone, including the code and the accounts, and there is no stage at which you have paid for something you cannot take with you.
The standard nine stages, discovery, strategy, UX/UI, development, content and SEO, testing, launch, measurement and continuous improvement, apply to every project. The paragraph above is what differs for this one.
What moves the number
Pricing depends on scope, functionality, integrations and content requirements. These are the factors that change it most:
Three ways to buy a website in India, and what each one really costs
The cheapest quote
Fits: A genuinely simple brochure site where you already have finished content and no integrations
Limits: Content, testing, migration and post launch fixes are usually excluded, so the cost arrives later rather than never
A scoped supplier
Fits: Anything with integrations, an existing site to migrate, or content that does not exist yet
Limits: The number looks higher on day one, because it includes work the cheap quote left out
A large agency
Fits: Large organisations that need account management, formal process and many stakeholders handled
Limits: You pay for that structure whether or not your project needs it
Case studies
No client pricing is published here, because a figure without the scope that produced it is misleading rather than helpful. What we can point to is the team's existing practice in local search and Google Business Profile work, and the approach to scope and handover described on this page, which is the same one applied on that work.

Frequently asked questions
Why will you not publish a price list?
Because a price list for this kind of work is either so wide that it tells you nothing, or so specific that it is wrong for most projects that read it. What we can do, and do below, is set out every factor that moves the number, so that when you describe your project you can predict roughly where it will land and check our quote against your own reasoning.
Is GST included in the quote?
GST is shown as a separate line on the invoice, charged at the rate applicable to the service. Quotes state the amount before tax and the tax separately, so there is no ambiguity about what is being compared when you put two proposals next to each other.
Can I pay in stages?
Yes, and it is the default rather than something to ask for. Payment is tied to milestones you can verify, not to a calendar. What that means practically is that you are never more than one stage ahead of what you can actually see working.
What happens if the project stops halfway?
You keep everything produced to that point, and the accounts are already in your name because they were set up that way at the start rather than transferred at the end. There is no stage at which stopping leaves you with nothing, which is the outcome that makes people reluctant to start.
Do you offer a cheaper version for a small business?
We scope smaller rather than working cheaper, and the distinction matters. Fewer pages, fewer integrations, your content rather than ours, a simpler design system: each of those genuinely reduces the figure and none of them reduces the quality of what is built. What we do not do is quote the same scope for less by removing the testing and the support, because that is the quote this page exists to warn about.
What are the ongoing costs after launch?
Hosting, the domain renewal, business email, and any third party services the site depends on such as a payment gateway or messaging credits. These are named separately in the quote and paid to those providers rather than to us where that is possible, so you can see and control them.
