Facebook and Instagram ads, where the creative is the variable
Meta Ads management runs paid campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. Unlike search, the audience is not looking for you. So the creative does the work of earning attention, and creative fatigue rather than bid strategy is what usually causes performance to decline.
Paid social inverts paid search. Search captures people already looking; social interrupts people doing something else. That single difference moves the centre of gravity from keywords and bids to creative and audience, and it means a campaign that worked last month can decline this month without anything being changed.
Campaigns are set up once with two images and left running. Performance declines as the audience sees the same creative repeatedly, and the response is to raise the budget, which accelerates the fatigue. Meanwhile measurement has become harder, tracking restrictions mean the platform's reported conversions and your analytics disagree, and teams either trust the platform entirely or dismiss it entirely, both of which lead to bad decisions.
When this work makes sense
Questions worth asking any supplier
Is there a plan for producing new creative continuously? Without it, performance decays.
Is the conversions API configured, or is measurement relying on the browser pixel alone?
Does the platform's reported conversion count match your own records? It will not exactly, and the gap should be understood.
Is the offer suited to an audience who were not looking for you?
Who produces the creative, and how quickly can a new variation ship?
Deliverables
Campaign and audience structure appropriate to your volume
Conversions API alongside the pixel, so measurement survives browser tracking restrictions
Creative testing framework with a schedule for producing new variations
Audience strategy, broad versus defined, with retargeting configured deliberately
Landing pages matched to the ad rather than a general site page
Attribution reconciliation between platform-reported and actual results
Reporting in cost per qualified enquiry against a baseline

Process
Creative production is scheduled from the start rather than commissioned when results drop. Meta campaigns decline through fatigue as the same audience sees the same thing repeatedly, and the fix is new creative rather than a higher budget. Agreeing at the outset who produces it and how often is what separates campaigns that sustain from ones that work for six weeks and then get blamed on the platform.
The standard nine stages, discovery, strategy, UX/UI, development, content and SEO, testing, launch, measurement and continuous improvement, apply to every project. The paragraph above is what differs for this one.
What moves the number
Pricing depends on scope, functionality, integrations and content requirements. These are the factors that change it most:
Meta ads, Google Ads, or organic social
Meta ads
Fits: Creating demand and reaching people before they search
Limits: Lower intent; performance depends on creative that must keep changing
Google Ads
Fits: Capturing people actively searching, higher intent
Limits: Limited to existing search volume; costs rise with competition
Organic social
Fits: Building an owned audience over time
Limits: Reach is throttled by the platform; slow, and you are renting the relationship

Frequently asked questions
Why did our campaign stop working?
Usually creative fatigue. The same audience has seen the same ads repeatedly and stopped responding. Raising the budget accelerates it, because you are showing the tired creative more often. New creative is the fix, which is why production should be scheduled rather than reactive.
Why do Meta's numbers differ from our analytics?
Attribution and tracking restrictions. Meta counts conversions within its own window, including view-through, while analytics applies a different model and misses what browsers block. Expect a gap, understand its direction, and judge spend against enquiries you can verify in your own records.
What is the conversions API and do we need it?
It sends conversion data server-to-server rather than relying on the browser pixel, which browser privacy restrictions increasingly block. Without it, the platform is optimising on incomplete data, and campaigns perform worse for reasons nobody can see in the interface.
Broad or narrow targeting?
Broad, generally, with modern automated delivery, the system finds responsive people better than manual targeting does, given enough conversion data. Narrow targeting suits small budgets and genuinely niche audiences where broad would waste most of the spend.
How many creatives do we need?
More than most businesses produce, and refreshed continuously. Several variations running at once, with new ones entering as performance declines. A campaign with two images has a short life regardless of how good those images are.
Does this work for B2B?
Sometimes, and less predictably than for consumer products. It can work for awareness and retargeting. For direct lead generation in B2B, search usually produces better quality per rupee or dollar because the intent is already there.
Who owns the ad account?
You, through your own Business Manager, with us granted access. An agency-owned account means losing your pixel history and audience data when the relationship ends, and rebuilding both takes months.
How long should we leave a campaign before judging it?
Long enough for the delivery system to exit its learning phase, which needs a meaningful number of conversions rather than a number of days. Editing a campaign during that period restarts it, so a team making daily adjustments can keep a campaign permanently in learning and never see how it would have performed. Set it up properly, then leave it alone long enough to produce a verdict.
